It is undoubtedly the most beautiful brasserie in Alsace, a magnificent half-timbered house dating from 1427, located right across from Strasbourg Cathedral. This impressive building, designated a historic monument, offers a true journey through time and gastronomy, featuring all the classics of Alsatian cuisine on its menu. The atmosphere is inevitably a bit touristy, but the food is a delight: Kochersberg snails Alsatian-style, pikeperch fillet “à la matelote,” Riesling sauce, tagliatelle with crispy bacon, chicken fricassee “coq au Riesling”-style, and spätzle sautéed in butter. Desserts are more mainstream. The service is lively.
