Gault&Millau's review 2025

An image of a lively, bustling Paris, open to the world, on the legendary Grand Boulevards, next to the Rex. Another strong symbol is that Giovanni Passerini designs the menu, leaving good Italian chef Matteo Pioppi to manage the day-to-day operations with light, tasty recipes, totally in tune with the era of Italian passion: pizza fritta with smoked bacon and stracciatella, gnudi with peas, broad beans and artichokes, taleggio ravioli with leek and lemon, and generous dishes to share, such as asparagus and eel risotto or suckling pig. It's all pretty, well done, and only slightly more expensive than in a trattoria, even if this year's menu didn't seem quite as accomplished (especially the acidic grapefruit dessert). A €29 lunch menu (but it's an evening place, in this well-dressed hotel with its rooftop and cocktails) means you can get started without breaking the bank.
