In a quiet street a stone's throw from the splendid Saint-Sernin Basilica, this establishment is more than ever a singular stopover on the Toulouse landscape. Far from aseptic standards, uncluttered decor and imposed menus, it offers an immersive experience in which the decor and the plate with its two solid toques rival each other in character. When you cross the threshold, you enter a confident boudoir-baroque universe: subdued lighting, deep velvets, gilded frames and antique objects create a hushed, almost dreamlike atmosphere. It's the ideal address for an intimate, romantic dinner (in fact, they only set tables for two, or almost) and for disconnecting from the urban hustle and bustle. The à la carte menu features some 15 mouth-watering dishes, combining the local and the exotic: a deep marble of foie gras with nori seaweed, an original finger of pollack with satay, an excellent pigeon breast, a panko-crusted leg with grand veneur sauce, a daring combination of sweetbreads and octopus with Saigon sauce, before an exquisite dessert of chocolate passion fruit mango and Valrhona cocoa powder. A cuisine that's off the beaten track, perfectly executed, generous and beautifully presented. Meticulous service (mouth-watering mignardises...), a warm welcome and the deadpan service we love, but the wine list is still too short.
