Gault&Millau's review 2026

At the top of the Solaise head, the Paris Society group has replaced its Gigi with a more local, grounded cuisine. It's a welcome return to common sense in these mountainous surroundings with spectacular views over Val d'Isère. The menu is very mainstream, but if you look hard enough, you'll find a few pretty pasta or gratin dishes brimming with Beaufort or mountain cheeses with polenta. A soup au gratin with onion, a poached egg with parsnip cream and crispy bacon, or a quinoa salad with vinegared Savoy tomme. To share, a roast chicken with morels and yellow wine (110 euros for 2) or, more reasonably, homemade lasagne for children and their parents. The blueberry tart we'd hoped for turned out to be average, but the pastry is crisp and the vanilla whipped cream was whipped up in a minute. The wine list is of good quality, and you can find what you're looking for for around 50 euros if you look hard enough. Altitude prices, as expected.
