Gourmet Restaurant Max Reure is at the helm of this family-run establishment not far from Roanne, offering top-quality cuisine in a well-kept, bourgeois setting. The 16th-century house now boasts an ultra-contemporary extension, as if to link the present with its roots, a spirit of terroir with today's ideas. Fine produce is the theme, with a starter of haddock, turnip boule d'or, orange and bottarga, poultry with morels, parsnips and tarragon, a back of young wild boar, cabbage, Colonnata bacon and a full-bodied pepper jus, and a dessert based on chestnuts, chocolate and bergamot. To prolong the pleasures, the house has its own small grocery store.
