Gault&Millau's review2026
At the far end of the prefecture, in the middle of the calanques, Les Goudes is one of Marseilles' most hidden and beloved spots, where locals gather to have a drink, watch the sunset, or try to get a table at one of the harbor's rare establishments. The Grand Bar des Goudes is one of the most famous, with its open-air bar overlooking the harbor and a lively atmosphere of music and conversation. Chef Benjamin Mathieu, who took over the premises in 2023, offers a fine Marseilles cuisine, with classic dishes to share and revisited starters. These include marinated mussels, sea urchins with espuma bottarga and warm brioche, and crab fritters. Then there are the must-try dishes: the great five-fish bouillabaisse, with a good rock soup, bourride, lobster pasta, grilled fish and a 300g entrecôte for the more earthy. The cellar is decent, with some good references (Château Simone, Domaine Fiumicicoli, Domaine du Paternel, Manoir de la tête rouge, l'Oratoire des papes...).
