Gault&Millau's review 2026

On the banks of the Loire, the name says it all: people come here to enjoy fish and seafood in a simple, family-friendly setting reminiscent of a ship’s cabin. In the kitchen, Sylver Contu creates authentic Loire Valley cuisine, punctuated by subtle Asian touches. The dining experience is delightful, and the ingredients are fresh and high-quality: a seafood madeleine that highlights freshness, a high-quality roasted mackerel served on a bed of Sardinian fregola and baby vegetables—though the plating could use a touch more elegance—followed by a chocolate bavarois as a decadent and crunchy finale. In the dining room, a smiling maître d’hôtel leads a young team still in training and also serves as sommelier, overseeing a generous wine list that heavily features local producers. For a reasonable price—with set menus ranging from €21 to €37—you can enjoy cuisine that is genuinely rooted in its coastal heritage. One chef’s hat this year.
