Gault&Millau's review 2026

When you first discover this magnificent house, at the end of a forest lane that winds through the grounds of this Provencal bastide, it's impossible not to be charmed by these beautiful 18th-century stones. Climb the few steps up to the huge terrace and take a look at the year-round clientele, Café Magdeleine, before taking a seat in the beautiful dining room, which opens onto the park, or, on a balmy summer's evening, in the delightful patio brightened by the rustle of a fountain. The plates soon arrive, sunny, neat and colorful: the pretty Provence tomato confit with lemon syrup and olive oil and water from a marmande condiment, an elegant Caramote shrimp just stiffened and a declension of corn and an original work on rabbit, the saddle marbled with black pork ventrêche, eggplant with marjoram and tapenas juice for an ensemble that is certainly perfectly mastered but sometimes lacks a little touch of madness. Desserts in the same southern spirit, with a proposal based around honey from the park, a madeleine cookie and a lemon ginger sorbet refreshed with Bardouin pastaga. Service is sometimes on autopilot, and the cellar is very pretty.
