Gault&Millau's review2026
There's a country feel to the long road between Valenciennes and Le Quesnoy. It's in this pretty farmhouse, a former coaching inn, that the happy Flambée team welcomes us around the fireplace. This central element is at the heart of what we do. A wood-fired kitchen for lovers of embers, big flames and crackling logs. In the large dining room, with an eye on the cooking, or out on the terrace in the fresh air, we welcome families on weekends or colleagues for business lunches. Two menus are available: €49 for the Plaisir menu or €68 for the Passion menu. Fried egg and mushroom fricassee or crispy regional maroilles for the former, scallops or snail and sweetbread fricassee for the latter will start the menu. The reddish grill then welcomes lamb, veal fillet, duck breast and Hereford flank steak, not forgetting the 450-gram Angus XXL beef entrecôte à la fleur de sel. The less carnivorous will delight in a mildly spiced salmon steak or a roasted sea bass fillet. The millefeuille or the all-chocolate mirror dome will round off this pleasant visit to the countryside. Matching wine list.
