Gault&Millau's review 2025

Just north of Cahors, a local hostellerie that has made a comeback, and which has carved out a niche for itself, as much for its rooms and services (the view from the swimming pool is well worth the detour), as for Maryan Rak's table, which is both bourgeois and rustic, with its large country stone walls and meticulous table setting. Here, the chef works the terroir with simplicity and taste, demonstrating a certain savoir-faire that he deploys in well-priced menus. The €35 menu is an excellent introduction, with scallops with saffron sauce and saffron pearls, salmon steak with sweet bell pepper cream, duck breast with Malbec sauce, and the parfait glacé with prunes and Armagnac. Beautiful regional cellar. A warm welcome from Angélique.
