Chef's Restaurant To visit Royat, the spa town adjacent to Clermont-Ferrand, is to travel back in time. As you stroll through the charming spa garden overlooking the road, La belle Meunière cultivates its charm of the past. The magnificent Art-Deco dining room transports you back to the Roaring Twenties, giving Laurent Jury ample opportunity to distill a fine bourgeois cuisine for a clientele that loves it: very fresh scallop tartare with tangy condiments, langoustine ravioli with mushroom pickles, seaweed and exotic fruits as a modernist touch, filet de biche à la royale, melting with a beautiful foie gras, coffee and tonka jus, with a less enthusiastic accompaniment. Pomegranate pistachio mandarin dessert, very sweet and well done, classic cellar of 300 references and local beer.
