In a small village in the Choletais region, just like in a family home in the countryside, with a garden where a sign reads, “Here we protect nature… except for those pesky pigeons.” A zest for life and a sense of humor shine through as you read the various menus, and you can tell the team is delighted to treat us to a €22.90 set menu that changes every week. A breath of originality blows through this piquillo pepper financier served on a creamy bed of peppers and fried onions, followed by a hake fillet with salicornia and seaweed risotto; the cooking is precise, the plating is clean, and the seasonal ingredients come from local producers; the desserts follow the same spirit, featuring crème brûlée on a very fine crumble with grilled peaches. The wine list is thoughtfully curated around wines from producers whose scope extends beyond the region. A place where you can enjoy life on a budget, with a more elaborate menu on weekends and a well-deserved culinary accolade.
