Gault&Millau's review 2026

The beach, the open sea and the island of Groix in focus. Nicolas Le Tirrand has left Lorient's marina and his "Sources" restaurant (3 toques) for a new horizon in a remarkably well-located hotel. While awaiting the opening of a restaurant with "gastronomic ambitions", he is happily breaking in the "bistro" part of the establishment, which offers a simple, comfortable and bright setting in a natural seaside spirit. The young, energetic wait staff in blue polo shirts, light-colored pants and sneakers provide friendly, relaxed service. Behind the very consensual menu ("seafood platter" to order, "assortment of Breton charcuterie", "buckwheat risotto and seasonal vegetables, vegetable roast juice"...) the chef's talent shines through in seasonal dishes that are truly appetizing, such as the beautiful asparagus from La Torche associated with an iodized sabayon contrasting with a herbaceous oil that is clean and tasty. As for the beautiful pavé de lieu jaune with its crispy skin, it is adorned with a gourmet sauce, albeit a little lacking in yellow wine. Celery (roasted and crisped) is the only vegetable complement. To finish, nasturtium enters the dance in the company of citrus fruits, a fine meringue, a smooth cream and a well-dosed kalamansi ice cream, all of which brighten up this lovely dessert. The wine list is well-calibrated, providing the essentials without fear of price gouging: Touraine from Vincent Roussely, Vouvray from Sébastien Brunet, Eblin-Fuchs Riesling, Chablis from Bernard Defaix, Cairanne from Marcel Richaud, Beaujolais from Domaine Mélinon..
