Gault&Millau's review 2026

Omar Dhiab (who holds two prestigious Michelin stars at his eponymous restaurant in the 1st arrondissement) has leveraged his reputation and insatiable work ethic to open this second, more accessible restaurant—a contemporary bistro—in the heart of Rue de Paradis, where competition in this niche is fierce. In a setting dominated by raw materials (stainless steel is everywhere, even in the armchairs that seem to weigh several metric tons when you have to move them), the Egyptian chef lets his heart speak (“elbi” in Arabic) to offer a menu featuring dishes prepared using various cooking methods (simmered, fried, grilled, or roasted) and designed to be shared among diners: mechouia salad, Basterma croquettes with a bold garlic and herb seasoning, followed by a lovely duck breast with molokheya sauce (admittedly less intense than what one typically finds in the Middle East). The desserts are somewhat unremarkable but fit the announced theme (rice pudding, rhubarb and pomegranate, orange blossom semolina cake); the wine list, on the other hand, is quite sophisticated but lacks options by the glass.
