Gault&Millau's review 2025

After lengthy and delicate renovation work, this Renaissance-style winegrower's house, listed as a historic monument and set on the delightful Place du Château, has been enlarged and transformed into a brasserie by the new owners, Florence and Bertrand Gelly. Thanks to a bold approach and the judicious use of recycled materials, the Alsatian atmosphere is even warmer. The eclectic, regional-style cuisine (with a fine collection of tartes flambées) is appreciated for its frankness and reasonable prices. You'll enjoy a melting presskopf, fresh sole meunière pan-fried in butter with parsley, a Baeckeoffe prepared to the highest domestic standards, an iced vacherin with a slightly hard (frozen) chantilly, or an iced kouglof from Christine Ferber. The beautifully presented and illustrated wine list features no fewer than twenty-three local winemakers.
