Gourmet Restaurant
And that makes five! Juliette Busetto and Samuel Victori are at it again with this new Agitateurs location, and this time, they’re taking us straight south, right into the heart of the Cagnard. A sunny, cheerful, and unpretentious restaurant that draws freely from the Nice region’s local flavors without ever limiting itself to the confines of traditional Nissart cuisine. Here, the dining experience is enhanced with a touch of whimsy, a love of good food, and a delightful sense of playfulness. We start with the famous “Bicous” (and we’ll leave it to the curious to look up the definition), these little pasta tubes stuffed with smoked mozzarella, spiced up with tomato chutney and Espelette pepper mayonnaise. The bouchot mussels, served with a bowl of house-made fries, are the epitome of comfort food, while the summery merguez sausage serves as a reminder that the South is never far away. In the evening, the menu expands with a beef stew pie in a rich, marrow-infused gravy, a rib of beef smoked with garrigue herbs for two, or a soup made with rockfish and the catch of the day. And then there are those nods to childhood that give the place its charm. The “Mister Cagnard”—those famous ice cream tubes we used to buy on the beach—make a comeback in very personal flavors: raspberry-basil, blackcurrant-black pepper, or apple-verbena. As for the “chichis”—those doughnuts we used to enjoy sitting on the pebbles after buying them from a street vendor whose cries echoed along the “Prom”—they’re transformed here into churros served with a chocolate-hazelnut praline. To accompany it all, the wine selection is impressive, but it’s the extraordinary pastis menu—with nearly 75 varieties—that really catches the eye. There’s something to satisfy every craving and taste, to be enjoyed, of course, in moderation. A sunny, generous, and playful restaurant that embraces its Nice identity without ever taking itself too seriously. And for lunch, there’s a great three-course set menu for €29, right under the blazing sun.
