Chef's Restaurant Lost in the Haut-Anjou countryside, this tastefully renovated former coaching inn has been home to Michel Cudraz in the kitchen and his wife in the dining room for over twenty years. Classic at first glance, the dishes demonstrate undeniable expertise, transforming absolutely fresh produce into subtly balanced dishes: the rice ball wrapped in a shiso leaf, grown on site, accompanies the scallops, just seared on a bed of mung bean sprouts and snow peas, with a delicate coconut milk and red curry sauce; the vegetable starter is not simply a collection of vegetables, but a composition based on bulgur with preserved lemon, turmeric espuma and capers on a beet velouté; the wine list features nectars from the region and beyond, and it's a pleasure to linger in this beautiful place around the fireplace. Prices are on the whole quite cordial, but there are plenty of extras on the menus.
