Gourmet Restaurant Jacques Bellot, originally from Baratier, spent several years at Campanille headquarters in Paris, where he met his wife... With their wealth of experience behind them, they decided to change their lives. Twenty-three years ago, by a stroke of luck, the hotel-restaurant in his village was up for sale, and he knew every nook and cranny. Everything was redone, including the spa and hammam, and for the past few years, Alsatian chef Xavier Schatzmann has succeeded in striking the difficult balance of being able to satisfy all types of clientele found in this Logis de France, near the Serre-Ponçon lake. There's nothing innovative about this hotel-school cuisine, where the seasonings are right, the temperatures are right, and local produce is given pride of place, like the 25 products and producers from the Hautes-Alpes region listed on the menu. The warm welcome, the speed and efficiency of the service and the absolutely unbeatable room-meal-breakfast price of around €100 all add up to the final decision: yes, this restaurant, this hotel, this family and this vision all deserve to feature in our selection.
