Gourmet Restaurant Young people in Nîmes who are interested in food and drink have already made it their HQ: Léone is the trendy, artisanal place that's well launched and deserves its own showcase. The tone is right, both in the welcome and in the setting: parquet flooring, whitewashed walls and old stone over the arches, bistro furniture and music that's a little loud so you can hear the clatter of forks. Sourced, fresh and mostly local products, muge tartare with candied citrus and cime di rape, the central veggie dish (chickpeas ras el hanout yoghurt roasted vegetables) can be transformed by adding a piece of Alpilles lamb shoulder roasted on the bone (but then you go up to €25 a dish), before a good rice pudding that also makes the toque, pistachio praline and roasted pistachios. Alone in the dining room, the young proprietor knows his wines, his winemakers, his customers and his products inside out, explaining to everyone where they come from and why, even to the point of overdoing it.
