Gault&Millau's review

14/20
Chef's Restaurant This 17th-century building opens onto a garden planted with trees, a vast kitchen garden that supplies the restaurant's kitchens, and a stone's throw from the Oriental Park, Europe's largest Japanese garden. Time seems to have stood still, but not the cuisine of Vincent Charbonneau, who took over the reins of this restaurant in 2024 after twenty years of loyal service as second-in-command. We're pleasantly surprised by plates full of freshness, like the cream of celery under Breton oysters in fine jelly, before a mackerel that plays with a squid on a crunchy spelt risotto, its sauce bonne femme in total harmony; the desserts are true chef's desserts around a roasted pineapple, in sorbet on a surprising declension of buckwheat in fine tuile, purée and caramelized grains. The service is young and professional, and the wine list is full of carefully selected glasses. Half a point more for an affordable cuisine.
