Gourmet Restaurant In the heart of the Krutenau, the former "Renard Prêchechant" has become one of Strasbourg's favorite wine bars. Well-known to connoisseurs of fine wines, half wine cellar, half restaurant, it's the perfect place to enjoy tapas and wine tastings at low prices. In a setting of beams, exposed stonework, stained-glass church windows and a wall of bottles, you can sample dishes in small portions, served in mini Staub jars. Starters include tender tuna tataki with cashew nut crumble and garam masala, Caesar salad prepared to the highest standards, and tender Simmenthal beef snacked in thick "crying tiger" carpaccio. The main course features tender Vallée d'Auge poultry harmoniously combined with apples, artichokes, mushrooms, lightly seasoned beef polpettes, tomato concassé with lightly smoked herbs and risoni pasta, or generous veal kidneys, mustard cream with grape must, topped with crispy fried onions. The desserts seemed to us to be of a lower standard: apple strudel curiously garnished with kiwi and banana, or an overly sweet chocolate cream with well-measured ginger. The atmosphere is cool, with always a hundred and one vintages to discover in a cellar well armed with natural and organic wines.
