Chef's Restaurant La Table de Charrou is an inn lost in a gourmet oasis in the middle of the arid causse of Limogne en Quercy. Lucie and Charles have turned this remote spot into a gourmet retreat for meat lovers. Last year, they were in the spotlight in Le 109, presenting "tête et langue de veau en croquettes sauce gribiche", the house specialty, still on the menu, but this year we were treated to tripe et pieds revisités, carrots, lemon confit, olives, peppers and spices, thinly sliced veal walnut, and a remarkably well-cooked spider of Aubrac beef served with large fries in beef fat. For dessert, a homemade baba with the texture of a sponge cake and copiously imbibed. The wine list is simply sumptuous for an establishment with a country inn vocation. This generosity could be extended to a small appetizer, even a peanut or olive, at the start of the meal.
