Just a stone's throw from the famous Rotonde fountain in Aix-en-Provence, chef Ronan Kernen has set up his Petite Ferme, a warm, contemporary address where each guest can find his or her own atmosphere: sunny terrace, lively counter facing the ovens, or more intimate tables. In the kitchen, embers reign supreme: the superb Josper grill and wood-fired oven bring depth and character to cooking. The plates, always clean and precise, are open to modern flair, like this hake confit with olive oil and yellow lemon, accompanied by mashed potatoes with grapefruit and cebette, and multicolored zucchini with black olives. At lunchtime, the €32 menu offers remarkable value for money, and the cellar, with its wealth of fine regional wines, is the perfect way to extend the experience.
