Chef's Restaurant Azay is one of the last Loire châteaux on the way upstream and downstream, for admirers of these historic stones. Who now have every reason in the world to mark the stage with this climax. Simon Desiles is stepping up his game and pleasing the people of Ridell, accompanied by Eleanor, who will be away from the restaurant for a while due to a happy event, prompting the young chef to pull out all the stops. The plates are all equally balanced and tasty: roasted scallops, celeriac spaghetti, lovage and lightly smoked bard jus, hake as the fish of the moment, romanesco, piccalilli sauce, caramelized cauliflower purée, spelt or, for dessert, physalis chocolate verbena, "Amour en cage" salad and sorbet, black manjari ganache, garden verbena cream, oat moelleux... Good service, tidy side dishes, a fine wine list representing all regions and featuring Loire Valley references (Alliet, Carême, Pellé...), and a few discoveries in AOP Touraine Azay-le-Rideau.
