Chef's Restaurant Here's a pretty little gastro, discreetly located in the heart of the historic center, but not far from the Old Port. Chef David Etcheverry (of Basque origin...) and his wife Christine (in charge of the dining room) set up shop here a little over three years ago, in this "arty" dining room with twenty or so seats and an open kitchen overlooking the diners (you'd think you were in a theater). We had a delightful time there, thanks of course to the chef's very readable plates and the smiling, engaging, efficient and discreet service: glazed langoustine broth, peas, tarama, piquillos, very good wild garlic gnocchi, sea bass (replacing the planned red mullet at short notice), lemon beans, sage-scented onion juice, caramelized veal sweetbreads, hazelnuts, white chocolate, candied Swiss chard, before pleasant desserts just a touch below (caramel and grapefruit tart, milky crunch)... Here's an address that's very much of its time, full of enthusiasm and youth, in a great state of mind. A superb wine list of 170 references, perfectly put together by the young sommelier (who also gives very good advice, without showing off...), impeccable value for money, an atmosphere of connoisseurs, all delighted.
