Gourmet Restaurant On the slopes of Val Thorens, Le Chalet de la Marine is already a benchmark. The young front-of-house team knows their stuff, and the interior atmosphere is more reminiscent of the chalets of the Aravis than of Tarentaise restaurants, evoking an old-fashioned mountain farm. The menu is impressive, and perhaps a little overstuffed, offering a pleasing lobster taco with avocado, citrus and pecans, the chalet pot-au-feu with foie gras, a legacy of former owner Gachet, a Belleville Valley figure. The kitchen is overseen by Josselin Jeanblanc, the chef from Les Explorateurs, in tandem with Mathide Mattera, a talented young cook. The wine list and service are of a high standard.
