Gault&Millau's review

12.5/20
Gourmet Restaurant For some people, taking their kebab-poulpe sandwich or "tout agneau" from Chez Caterine and devouring it in the street is a Marseille luxury unattainable by foreigners. For others, it means sitting within earshot of the counter (they call you by your first name when the plate is ready) and tasting this instant, market cuisine. Everything looks improvised, yet everything is under control. Marie Dijon's talent and knowledge could undoubtedly thrill the clientele of the grandes tables, but she thrives so much in her natural space, that of a bistro of buddies with no codes, so hype and so free, in her ragged and ragged setting, that we can only rejoice to find her in her element. The fine beet and pomelo tart with raw cream at €8.50 is damn good, with its ginger pepper seasoning so right on target, in its intelligent interplay of textures; from the very first bite of the veal breast carrot star anise butternut veal juice xo peanut, you feel the balance of flavors, and what looks like a cantoche dish with its unpeeled carrot becomes a delight, with the well-balanced herbs, the melting of the meat and the rightness of the sauce, in a delightful, creative and generous whole for the staggering sum of €14. We finish with a beautiful whole flan, in a crown, cut at the minute, a little damaged by the very sweet caramel-spice syrup. Vin nature around €5 a glass, bottles around €30-50.
