Suzanne COCHRAN
Although the daughter and granddaughter of winegrowers, Suzanne Cochran was initially interested in law. "But one day, I had to replace my mother at a wine fair in Brussels after she had an accident, and that's where my curiosity was born," she recounts.
She then embarked on a Wine and Management course at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. Encouraged by her teacher Franck Ramage, she completed her first internship at Franck Faugier's Domaine des Hauts Châssis in the Rhône Valley. She then moved on to the Peninsula Paris, first as a trainee, then as a commis sommelier. It was here that she met her mentor, Xavier Thuizat (Best Sommelier of France and MOF 2022), whom she joined in 2017 at the Hôtel de Crillon."He distilled all his knowledge, and I learned an enormous amount at his side," confides the sommelier.
In 2019, Suzanne Cochran's thirst for independence prompted her to join the David Toutain restaurant in Paris for two years. After a spell at Vincent Favre-Félix in Annecy, she became head sommelier at Le Rouge, Georgiana Viou's gourmet restaurant in Nîmes. "I went there to eat, and after tasting the chef's dishes, I was more than eager to work with her," she recalls. A few months after her arrival, Suzanne Cochran was awarded the Sommelier trophy at the Gault&Millau Tour Occitanie 2022.
