In 2021," she tells us, " in the middle of Covid, the restaurants were closed. To keep busy and at the same time be of service,I was out in the fields picking potatoes. It was with my hands full of potatoes that Imet Céline, the dining room manager atLe Grand Four, who was looking for a head waitress. That's how the adventure began.
A seminal experience at P'Tit Noirmout
Born in 2000 in Challans, Marine Péaud grew up in Noirmoutier, at the end of this wild and magnificent island thatshe would find very hard to leave. "It wasn 't until I'd passed my A-levels that Idecided to go into therestaurant business, without having planned it in advance," she says, spending a season working at P'Tit Noirmout with a chef who taught her a lot. "I really enjoyed theexperience. I then went to La Rochelle for a few months to study atthe Lycée Hôtelier, but I didn't finish the year. I wanted to work."
She thrives on contact with customers
Quickly promoted to the rank of head waitress at the Grand Four, the self-described shy woman undergoes a metamorphosis once service begins. "I love being in contact with customers, advising them on their choice of dishes and wine pairings. I also have a passion for oenology."
In March 2024, however, Marine Péaud decided to leave the traditional restaurant business to join Hip's, abar that had just opened on the port of Noirmoutier. "My medium-term goal is to open my own bar on the island.It would be a place where we'd offer plates to nibble on, where we'd organize events, an address that's both young, lively and gourmet."
