Lionel LÉVY
Chef : 1 restaurantLionel Lévy, Marseille and Gault&Millau, a story that has been going on for 20 years, and the title of Grand de demain won in 2002 by the man then at the helm of Table au Sud, on the corner of the Vieux Port.
Born in Paris, Lionel Lévy trained at the Lycée Hôtelier in Toulouse, then with Gérard Garrigues (at Le Pastel).Yves Camdeborde's kitchens at Régalade, then those of Eric Frechon (at La Verrière, in Paris's 19th arrondissement), before joining Alain Ducasse's teams.
But it was in Marseilles that this grandson of Moroccan parents really came into his own. In 1999, he opened Une Table au Sud on the Vieux Port, where he stayed for 13 years, long enough to make a name for himself and earn the title of Grand de Demain.
In the early 2010s, the former Hôtel-Dieu began its transformation into a luxury hotel under the Intercontinental banner. Lionel was chosen to be the chef, and took on the first service at l'Alcyone in spring 2013. In this luxurious setting, he wanted service to be as relaxed as possible, playing cleverly with local produce, while blending his Eastern influences into his generous, shimmering cuisine.
A committed chef, as much for the respect of natural resources as for the promotion of his adopted town, Lionel Lévy is today a recognized chef, listened to, capable of delightingthe region's top chefs, thanks in particular to the Gourmediterranée association, which he co-founded with Guillaume Sourrieu and Gérald Passedat in 2012.
