Jean-Marc Charpentier demonstrates Champagne's unrivalled ability to challenge itself. Twenty years ago, he made the transition from cooperative to independent winemaker. Then, in 2009, he undertook the conversion of his beautiful 24-hectare hillside vineyard to organic and biodynamic viticulture, at a time when he was a pioneer and even today an exception. " I discovered the benefits of biodynamic viticulture through a wine-tasting session, and I practice it without ideology, at least on a large scale, and I'm perhaps the only one to do so. The dual certification of AB and Demeter lends credibility to the approach", says this audacious and humanist offspring of a director of the Avize wine-growing college. His "Terre d'Émotion" collection embodies this work in the vineyard, adding a parcel-by-parcel dimension to the vinifications: the "Brut Vérité" reveals the nature of the terroir to deliver a precise, profound champagne.
