Hostellerie Bérard, in La Cadière-d'Azur (Var), has over 50 years of family history! Jean-François Bérard trained at Marseille's Lycée Hôtelier Bonneveine before joining the renowned Lenôtre cooking school. He continued his training at the Pré Catelan, alongside chef Frédéric Anton, then at the Balzi Rossi, in Ventimiglia, alongside chef Giuseppina Beglia.

In 2003, strengthened by these experiences and feeling homesick, Jean-François Bérard returned to his Provençal roots to work alongside his father. He took up the torch in 2008, distinguishing himself with sustainable Mediterranean gastronomy. "It's a cuisine of emotion and sharing, between land and sea. I draw my inspiration from La Bastide des Saveurs, my kitchen garden in which I grow the vegetables and herbs that fuel my restaurant's cuisine every day. "

Gone were the days when meals were served on paper tablecloths for less than 10 francs, and the establishment expanded and became Hostellerie Bérard & Spa. The Guide Jaune awarded it 2 toques in 2009, followed by a 3rd in 2012. In 2020, the restaurant was renamed - in both senses of the word - "René'Sens par Jean-François Bérard", in tribute to his father René.
