Eugénie FLIPO
It was after a trip to the United States in 2009 that Eugénie Flipo launched her sommelier career. "I was the little French girl who was asked to choose the wine, but I knew nothing about it. So, when I got back to France, I leafed through Le Vin pour les nuls, and that's when I said to myself that I wanted to open my own wine bar", she explains.
After studying law and business school, she completed an internship with wine giant Val d'Orbieu, followed by another with Sopexa, a food communications agency in Shanghai.
In 2012, she headed for Brussels, where she became manager and wine buyer for Étiquette Smart Wines. Five years later, she moved to Marseille, to work for Madame Jeanne, in partnership with La Cave des Papilles next door. It was there that she rediscovered natural wines."I didn't like it when I first arrived, but by dint of tasting, listening and understanding, I ended up loving it and couldn't move on to anything else."
Since 2019, Eugénie Flipo has been running her own winery, Les Trois Coups, in Marseille. Why this name? " I consider each service to be a play before the curtain rises," she explains. The cellar, which includes a restaurant, boutique and online store, won her the Gault&Millau PACA 2022 Sommelier trophy.
