Charlotte LERAY
After graduating with a degree in sociology, Charlotte Leray was keen to travel, which she financed with winter seasons in a variety of establishments, working in both student bars and gourmet restaurants. " In fact, I realized that I was quite successful in this field," she explains.
The daughter of restaurateurs, she followed in her parents' footsteps, starting out as a head waiter at La Villa Florentine in Lyon. " I spent a lot of time with sommeliers who taught me a lot, who were super generous, passionate and fascinating people. "Nine months later, she joined Jean-François Têtedoie and Lemmy Brou's Café Terroir in Lyon.
Since 2020, Charlotte Leray has worked alongside her parents at La Nouvelle Auberge, a 3-toque restaurant in Wihr-au-Val (Haut-Rhin). She has gradually taken over her mother's position as sommelier. I'm extremely lucky," she says, "because she has built up a cellar of around 400 references, and she's been involved in ageing, cellaring... It's incredible what she's put together all by herself in twenty-seven years ", she points out. A successful handover, since Charlotte Leray was awarded the Sommelier trophy at the Gault&Millau Tour Grand Est in December 2022.
