Chantal BRÉGEON GONET

Chantal BRÉGEON GONET

Chantal Gonet lived on the estate until she was 18, before studying aeronautical engineering. Returning to her hometown - Mesnil-sur-Oger - in 1993, she has been Managing Director of the company since 2001, sharing responsibilities with her brother, who is also President.

Presentation

Chantal and her brother Pierre represent the seventh generation at the head of the family "business" founded in 1830. Their stronghold? Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, on the famous Côte des Blancs, although they also benefit from other superb terroirs, in the Marne Valley, the Sézannais region and Montgueux, the famous hillock overlooking the town of Troyes, in the Aube region. " Since 2005, we've been gradually renewing our vineyards and work tools ," explains Chantal Gonet. On some of their different vineyard sites, their practices are in line with a winegrowing, organic or even biodynamic approach. In any case, insecticides and pesticides have been banished from the "house" vocabulary. The Gonet style? " For the most part, we have a very pronounced chalk terroir, which gives our wines freshness and a tension that we appreciate, but which we also try to soften by playing with blends and barrel ageing in particular ," describes Chantal. Straightforward but not austere! This temperament can be found in most of their delicious cuvées, especially the "Ter" and "Blanc de blancs" Collections.
