A classic of French gastronomy will soon have its own scented stamp

On October 8, 2025, La Poste will highlight a typically French creation, a true symbol of the country on the international stage. A visual and olfactory creation, this new stamp launches autumn on a gourmet note.

The croissant, the hallmark of French craftsmanship, will soon be appearing in letterboxes. Starting in October, La Poste will be marketing a brand-new stamp that will delight collectors and lovers of French gastronomy alike.

A stamp featuring the croissant

A true symbol of France the world over, the butter croissant is making its arrival at La Poste. This artisanal pastry will be the subject of a gourmet collection, with croissant-scented stamps!

The Croissant au Beurre collection consists of a classic stamp, with a print run of almost 600,000 copies, priced at €2.10. A limited-edition sheet will be printed in 20,000 copies, priced at €5. Officially on sale on October 8, 2025, it will go on sale as a preview on October 7:

  • At the Concours national du Meilleur Croissant au Beurre, in Valence (Valence Herriot Post Office, 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm, avenue du Président Édouard Herriot, Valence)
  • During a signing session with Frédérique Vernillet, the stamp illustrator, in Paris (Le Carré d'Encre, from 10am to 7pm, 13 bis rue des Mathurins, Paris - signing sessions from 10:30am to 12:30pm)

La Poste's gourmet creations

This isn't the first time La Poste has created gourmet stamps. Indeed, pastry chef Pierre Hermé had the opportunity to highlight his famous Ispahan flavor (composed of lychee, rose and raspberry) for Valentine's Day 2025, with the scent of this creation.

A stamp entitled "La baguette de pain française" was also issued in 2024, also with a scent reminiscent of bakeries. A booklet of stamps featuring twelve French pastries is still available, with illustrations of macaroons, fraisier, flan pâtissier and tarte Tatin.
