Rosés du Roussillon: vintages that will make you forget Provence

Rosés du Roussillon: vintages that will make you forget Provence

Powerful, saline and gastronomic, Roussillon rosés are changing their image. Discover the best 2025 vintages from Collioure and Côtes-du-Roussillon to taste this summer.

Laetitia Gautheron

Between the sea and the mountains, the Roussillon vineyards unfold a vast mosaic of terroirs in the Pyrénées-Orientales department. While the region has long built its reputation on its powerful red wines and famous vins doux naturels, it also offers a wide range of rosé wines that express the full complexity of this characterful territory. Whether under the protected designation of origin côtes-du-roussillon or collioure, rosé from the Roussillon region is breaking free from its image as a "thirst-quenching wine" to become a terroir wine in its own right.

Rosé and gastronomy

Contrary to popular belief, Roussillon rosé is not just an aperitif wine. Thanks to the power of its grape varieties, it's a bold invitation to the table. It's the ideal companion for gambas grilled a la plancha in summer, ouillade (Catalan stew) in winter, or even fragrant dishes such as tandoori or paella. It goes equally well with a fine grilled veal chop, as well as fatty, salty, lightly matured goat's and ewe's cheeses.
