A look back at the Alsace leg of the Gault&Millau Wine Tour
In line with Gault&Millau's constantly reaffirmed commitment to bringing together all those involved in gastronomy, the Wine Tour brings together the region's top chefs, passionate sommeliers and wine merchants, and of course the French winemakers who best symbolize the region's wine production.
A typical Wine Tour day is punctuated by the presentation of the Talents du Vin Awards. The aim is to reward the most talented chefs, sommeliers and wine merchants in their region, and to shine a spotlight on their establishments by highlighting their skills and know-how.
The fourth Wine Tour was held on April 3 at the Sofitel Grande Ile in Strasbourg, in the presence of several dozen chefs, sommeliers and wine merchants from the region. A dozen awards were presented, including the "Vigneron de Caractère" prize to Guillaume Mochel (Domaine Mochel), the "Caviste" award to Michel Falk (Au Millésime, Strasbourg) and Jean Kientzler (Jean Dénicheur de Crus, Mutzig), and the "Sommelier" award to Marilyn Girardin (La Maison des Têtes, Colmar).
The next stop will be in Paris, on October 9.
