Poitou Chèvre: Regional know-how inspires gastronomy

Poitou Chèvre: Regional know-how inspires gastronomy

For generations, Poitou Chèvre has strived to preserve what is essential: taste, simplicity and respect for the product, to offer cheeses that tell a story with every bite

A cheese-making craft rooted in the Poitou region

Heir to over a century of know-how, the Poitou Chèvre cheese dairy embodies the excellence of local goat's cheese. Located in the heart of the Deux-Sèvres region, in the small village of Bougon, it passionately brings the Poitou cheese-making tradition to life every day. Each stage, from molding to maturing, is carried out by hand, perpetuating precise gestures and sublimating the raw material, the "white gold of Poitou" that is delicate goat's milk.

Proximity, local commitment and a passion for good food!

Milk is collected from a cooperative of local breeders, guaranteeing optimal freshness and exemplary traceability. As Jean-Marc, a partner breeder, points out, "Poitou Chèvre produces traditional cheeses that are highly representative of the local taste heritage". This strong link with the region is essential for the cheese dairy, supporting the regional economy and ensuring consistent quality. It's this fresh milk that Poitou Chèvre uses to create its hand-molded, carefully matured cheeses. A passion for the craft drives every stage of production, and as Jérôme, the cheese dairy's manager, reminds us, it takes "time, love and care".

Traditional recipes and specialities to suit all tastes

Chabichou, Crottin, P'tit Sainte-Maure, Cabris, Délice des Deux-Sèvres... whether with its traditional recipes or its specialities, the cheese dairy offers a selection of soft, tender goat's cheeses, which turn out to be more or less creamy when matured.

While the nutritional qualities of goat's cheeses are well established (low fat content, high protein content, easy to digest), small goat's cheeses are not. digestibility), Poitou Chèvre's small goats stand out for their perfect, consistent mastery of impeccable taste quality. They seduce all palates with their precision and balance, sublimating sweet goaty notes in different shapes and textures.

A living tradition, open to the future

Poitou Chèvre is above all a team committed to promoting the region's heritage and proud of the quality of its products. Regularly awarded prizes in international competitions, Poitou Chèvre cheeses carry the taste of the land and passion. They are the fruit of centuries-old traditions, exceptional local production and a mastery of production and maturing that is the envy of many. But what makes them so tasty is probably the love and care that goes into their creation. Poitou Chèvre is all the good taste of Poitou!
