Where can you find the best vegan pastries in Paris?
Coffee shops offering a selection of vegan pastries, concept stores, and bakeries have been steadily gaining ground and popping up on the streets of the capital. Here’s a selection of eight vegan pastries you absolutely must try.
Although the first 100% plant-based fine pastry shop (VG Pâtisserie) didn’t open in the capital until 2016, in recent years, artisans have continued to expand their range of pastries made without butter, eggs, or milk, in short, without any animal-derived ingredients. It’s a bold venture, yet one that’s working wonderfully and delighting the taste buds of Parisians.
VG Pâtisserie
Founded in 2016, VG Pâtisserie has established itself as Paris’s very first plant-based fine patisserie. From the famous éclair to the croissant, everything here is available in a 100% vegan version. A pioneer of the vegan éclair, it combines indulgence and finesse to reinvent the greatest classics. Some creations have become staples of its artistry, such as the hazelnut cake—moist and intensely flavored—or the flan, with its melt-in-your-mouth texture and delicate vanilla notes, which has quickly won over its clientele. The desserts are also worth trying, particularly the “Nono,” a perfect marriage of cherry and pistachio.

Giardino Paris
Located in the heart of Batignolles, this tea room and pastry shop with a rainbow-colored facade, run by chef Matteo Deiana, offers 100% plant-based creations with numerous gluten-free options: macarons, cookies, and desserts. The motto at Giardino? Natural ingredients. “Every creation is based on natural, high-quality ingredients that are carefully selected according to the seasons , ” explains Matteo. Italian pistachios and hazelnuts, fresh fruit, flowers, and aromatic herbs make up a constantly evolving menu. For the pastry chef, this approach makes all the difference: “We make everything ourselves; our approach is natural, using seasonal fruits and a cocoa butter-based margarine. It takes time, but there’s real added value.” The rotation of products in the display case is deliberate and intentional, directly reflecting the seasons; it’s therefore rare to see the same creations twice, even though certain signature items—such as the Nocciola, a dessert dedicated to Piedmont hazelnuts, or the Finger Vanille, a tart featuring Madagascar vanilla, Sicilian almond praline, and salted caramel cream, remain available year-round. A personal favorite among the current offerings: the “Pistachio in Bloom” with blackcurrant and pistachio.

Land & Monkeys
With its seven Parisian shops, Land & Monkeys has established itself as the go-to spot for 100% plant-based baked goods since opening in 2020. Chef couple Rodolphe and Yoshimi Landemaine opened the first location in the heart of the Marais. On the menu: a varied selection of pastries, Viennese pastries, and snacks. Must-try highlights include the strawberry tart, featuring a creamy vanilla ganache, a crisp shortbread crust, and French strawberries—and the blueberry version is just as creamy. The pistachio flan, with its golden puff pastry, ultra-creamy filling, and praline with pistachio pieces, perfectly rounds out the selection.

La Mauvaise Herbe
Founded by Florence Neveux and Maxime Raïmi, this bakery and pastry shop in the 17th arrondissement is committed to two core principles: a 100% organic approach and the complete exclusion of animal-derived ingredients. This complementary duo—with Maxime focusing on bread and Florence on pastries—works with high-quality ingredients, including natural sourdough starter and unbleached flours. The shop has become a must-visit thanks to its uncompromising commitment and bold creativity, resulting in unexpected combinations such as the tahini, pear, and Jamaican pepper, or the “Harrison,” a savory plant-based turnover filled with a compote of bell peppers, mango, and harissa. This creativity is paired with a constant commitment to inclusivity, as evidenced by their ongoing development of gluten-free pastries.

Jo and Nana Cakes
You can’t miss the attractive pastel-colored facade of this vegan tea room in the 12th arrondissement, famous for its lemon cake, gianduja millefeuille, and American layer cakes reimagined in a French style. “For the past ten years, JO AND NANA CAKES has been reimagining the American layer cake with a French twist, favoring light creams, ganaches, and fruit-based fillings over buttercreams and fondant,” they explain. The shop is also known for its indulgent tea time, featuring 100% plant-based and gluten-free options. Its lemon tart, both light and tangy, is a must-try.

Pair them with an ube or matcha latte and treat yourself to your favorite desserts: carrot cake, now even more moist thanks to its new recipe, or pistachio, chocolate, or caramel-chocolate cookies, which are as melt-in-your-mouth as ever. Gluten-free options are also available, including raw cakes and macarons. These nostalgic pastries will take you right back to your childhood.

Café Les Artizans
At Café Les Artizans, it’s the flower-adorned storefront that first catches your eye, before your gaze is drawn to the small pastry display case. While this hybrid coffee shop-flower shop offers exclusively plant-based pastries, its limited menu nonetheless features some indulgent creations. Right now, be sure to try the mango-coconut dessert—made with a puffed rice base, coconut mousse, creamy mango filling, and passion fruit gel—as well as the madeleines and cookies. As the pastry chef is in transition, the menu will evolve while staying true to its essence: fresh pastries and seasonal French flowers. An intimate spot that combines indulgence and pleasure, as evidenced by its warm atmosphere. This sentiment is shared by the shop manager, Ingrid: “We sell what we love—delicious pastries, a friendly atmosphere, and beautiful flowers , ” she says warmly.
