This Haute-Garonne town will attempt to beat the record for a speciality... from Aveyron

On the menu for Aligofest, to be held November 14-16 in Toulouse: sporting events, conviviality and, above all, an attempt to beat the world record for aligot.

This is a first for the Ville Rose, which will be hosting Aligofest, a festival dedicated to aligot in mid-November. the event was born of a meeting between Rémi Dufour, president of the Toulouse Olympique XIII association, and Antoine Battini, director of the Moov Events agency. " We had already organized other events in Toulouse, notably Pétanque Days. The aim was to create a large-scale festival, to put the spotlight on the club and the association, but also to help them financially after a rather difficult period ", he confides.

In addition to supporting a local sports club, the aim was to organize a family gathering, "in the image of ferias", but also to showcase French gastronomy. " We thought a big banquet was the best way to bring people together, especially the French. We had to assess what was feasible, so since we all love aligot and there's a large Aveyron community in Toulouse, it made even more sense. "

Setting a world record

But why settle for making aligot when you can break one or even two world records? Aux Saveurs de l'Aubrac, which supplies and cooks the ingredients, will not only have to fill the plates of the 5,000 or so guests expected to attend, but also, and above all, win the title of the "World's Best Aligot".the title of "largest quantity of aligot-saucisse served over a weekend", as well as the "longest aligot thread" recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.

Already the holder of the first record, the caterer will have to exceed the 300 kg of purée served to validate the feat, and make an aligot thread over 6.30 m long - a record currently held by the Gosset brothers, in Caen. Screens will display the number of kilos of aligot-saucisse served in real time to celebrate progress.

In addition to the banquet, entertainment is planned throughout the weekend: rugby à 13 initiations, matches, DJ set, free activities including pétanque, darts, card games... Don't wait to get your tickets, because as Antoine Battini reminds us: " We're expecting as many people as possible. The more the merrier! "
