Distillerie du Morbihan wins a silver medal at the IWSC 2025 for its Algaïa gin, already a gold winner at the Gin Guide Awards. Recognition that rewards the artisanal excellence and aromatic boldness of a Breton spirit like no other.

After winning a gold medal at the Gin Guide Awards 2025, Algaïa gin continues to shine worldwide. It has just won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), one of the most renowned competitions in the spirits world.

This double award places Algaïa among the benchmarks of contemporary gin, thanks to a singular sensory profile combining marine freshness and botanical complexity.

A gin rooted in the Breton terroir

Born in Plescop, near Vannes, Algaïa is the fruit of artisanal craftsmanship by Distillerie du Morbihan. headed by François Rychlewski, who is passionate about local resources, he set out to create a gin that is both authentic and innovative. Algaïa's secret? A fine distillation combining marine plants, notably fresh seaweed, and rigorously selected botanicals.

The result is a gin with an assertive saline character and an elegant mouthfeel, evoking the sea spray of the Breton coast while retaining great aromatic finesse.

Recognition driven by a singular vision

For François Rychlewski, this recognition is more than just a trophy. " Seeing Algaïa recognized by two internationally renowned competitions is a source of immense pride for our team. It rewards our commitment to offering an authentic gin, rooted in our terroir, while innovating around marine flavors ," confides the founder.

In just a few years, Distillerie du Morbihan has established itself as a creative player on the Breton spirits scene. It regularly collaborates with local artisans, as in the case of its signature cocktails - Sarrasin 56 and Algafizz - developed in partnership with Brasserie Canopée in Nantes.

With Algaïa, the Breton distillery has succeeded in combining local identity with openness to the world. This international recognition sounds like a promise: to see exceptional products, born from the lands and coasts of Morbihan, become a permanent fixture on the finest tables.
