Assaf Granit returns to Cap d'Antibes for the summer

Israeli chef Assaf Granit returns to the Cap d'Antibes Beach Hotel to offer a Mediterranean menu in a waterfront festival venue.

Assaf Granit is back! After a successful summer in 2023, the Jerusalem-born chef will once again be setting up shop at the Cap d'Antibes Beach Hotel in 2024 with the BABA restaurant. In this festive venue, open from June to the end of August, it will be possible to eat and drink, all while enjoying an incredible view of the sea, with your feet in the sand.

"Turning Israeli cuisine into a party".

Assaf Granit, who already heads several restaurants in Paris, including the famous Shabour, has a special relationship with our country. "For me, France embodies excellence in the restaurant business, both in terms of cuisine and hospitality. In France, there's a real national passion for gastronomy that develops from childhood. There'sno other country where respect for cuisine is so pronounced, both on the part of those who prepare it and those who eat it", says the Isrealian chef. So it's only logical that he should once again sign the menu of BABA in Antibes, a festive beachside venue offering Mediterranean cuisine.

"Given the region, it makes much more sense for us to have a beach restaurant than a classic restaurant. But it was mainly a question of opportunity that presented itself to us when we met Nicolas, the owner of Chapitre Six. Having a beach restaurant is also a great symbol of the bridge between two Mediterranean cultures, that of the port of Antibes and that of the port of Jaffa", says the chef.

Frenavon, roasted cauliflower, signature kebabs... Dishes are served at lunch and dinner in front of the sun and the waves, to the sound of DJ sets and live bands. "My main aim is to make Israeli cuisine a party. I want people to come as much for the atmosphere as for the food," Assaf Granit emphasizes. "It's a kind of very organized chaos. Sometimes it's so messy that people wonder if we're crazy or how we're going to serve them on time. That's because behind the scenes, there's a lot of method and discipline. When we open, it's as if we're entering the stage. But everyone is ready and knows their role."

BABA Mondays

Another special feature? Every Monday is BABA Monday. "At the end of the afternoon, the aperitif takes a joyful turn and opens the festive parenthesis. BABA then awakens to the rhythm of live music, gradually inviting guests to celebrate the mildness of long summer evenings, with their feet in the sand. It's a time to let yourself go, lulled by the colors and sounds of creative cocktails, to be sipped at sunset, around the bar, at a table or nestled on the beach in sea-view sofas. After dinner, guests surround the bar, dancing to the sound of the orchestra, pianist, DJ, singer or saxophonist... glasses are passed around, the evening is launched... Every Monday, it's music!" concludes Assaf Granit.
