Just a stone's throw from Saint-Philibert Abbey, Tournus's former Maison de Charité, built in the XVIᵉ century, has undergone a spectacular renaissance. Bought in 2012 by a local entrepreneur, this forgotten building has been transformed into a superb 4-star hotel complex by Lyon-based Les Héritiers. Its name, Les Sept Fontaines, evokes the springs that discreetly irrigate the city and flow into the Saône. The charm begins as soon as you enter: 39 elegant rooms and suites combine heritage spirit and contemporary design, with Burgundy stone, antique furniture and a refined palette of greys, Sarah Lavoine greens and purples. There are also works by artists - such as Philippe Pousset's sculpted redwood or Vincent Breed's blown-in chandelier suspended in the XIXᵉ chapel. In the former cloister, the gourmet restaurant offers creative, local cuisine, while the spa offers a wellness interlude with swimming pool, hammam, jacuzzi, Vinesime and Pure Altitude treatments. The tasting cellar, nestled in the vaulted cellars, offers a fine selection of Burgundy vintages.
