This legendary hotel, where Cocteau and Scott Fitzgerald used to hang out, has stood the test of time without losing its way, jealously preserving its singular atmosphere of a daring mix of genres, with a seventies bar and photographs by Helmut Newton, Dominique Issermann and Peter Lindbergh adorning the walls of the large, antique wood-panelled lounges. The 25 rooms (and one apartment) feature velvet and gilding, with beautiful views over Arles. Access is via a staircase decorated with bullfighting posters, as if to remind us that this famous place is also a piece of the city's history. Christian Lacroix, another of the hotel's loyal guests and a native of the region, likes to remind us: "Le Nord Pinus belongs to the memory of all Arlesians
