Gault&Millau's review 2025

(Le Nord-Pinus is temporarily closed). This legendary hotel, where Cocteau and Scott Fitzgerald used to hang out, has stood the test of time without losing its way, jealously preserving its singular atmosphere of a daring mix of genres, with a seventies bar and photographs by Helmut Newton, Dominique Issermann and Peter Lindbergh adorning the walls of the large, antique wood-panelled lounges. The 25 rooms (and one apartment) feature velvet and gilding, with beautiful views over Arles. Access is via a staircase decorated with bullfighting posters, as if to remind us that this famous place is also a piece of the city's history. Christian Lacroix, another of the hotel's loyal guests and a native of the region, likes to remind us: "Le Nord Pinus belongs to the memory of all Arlesians
