Gault&Millau's review 2026

In Monaco, few hotels have a real dialogue with the sea. Le Méridien Beach-Plaza has just that: a private beach, a unique privilege in the principality, which changes the rhythm of a stay from the moment you arrive. Step through the glass lobby, bathed in light, and the Mediterranean is already the permanent backdrop. The two iconic glass towers house rooms and suites that seem to float above the waves. The 398 refurbished keys have been designed with functional elegance in mind: a terrace to breathe, light that glides along the walls, comfort that's unquestionable. In the panoramic suites, the sea becomes a continuous spectacle. Le Muse, a beach-club version, cultivates a relaxed atmosphere between umbrella pines, cocktails and plates to share. More unexpectedly, Café Lacoste, open from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m., imbues the hotel with a sophisticated sport-chic spirit: contemporary design, crocodile-green touches, terrace facing the sea. The menu, designed by Riccardo Giraudi, revisits French bistro classics through the prism of the brand's universe: "Coquillettes", "Baguette à l'assiette", clubs named "Practice", desserts such as the pistachio "Crocodile" or the Victorine tart - a nod to the founder - are added to a menu of eight exclusive cocktails, including the "Chose", resurrected from a 1967 creation. But Le Méridien doesn't stop there. In 2024, it welcomed Smakelijk! ("bon appétit" in Flemish), Monaco's first Belgian brasserie. The table blends the codes of Belgian gastronomy with a Mediterranean nuance: grey shrimp croquettes, vol-au-vent in classic or more daring versions, boulets liégeoise, garlic mussels... Between two appointments, you can choose: a swim in the outdoor pool, a session at the fitness center, or simply the pleasure of walking barefoot on the sand, a rare luxury in Monaco.
