Gault&Millau's review 2025

The first French establishment to earn the title of palace in 2011... Housed in an 18th-century mansion and inaugurated in 1925, the hotel pays homage to Frederick Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol, a great 18th-century British traveler and lover of luxury. The hotel attracted the international gotha, later joined by many politicians due to its proximity to the Élysée Palace. Now owned by the Oetker Group, the Bristol boasts timeless luxury, with its tapestries, crystal chandeliers and period furniture, without in any way detracting from its conviviality. Travelers and Parisians meet for breakfast or tea at Café Antonia; from 6 p.m., for a drink at the bar with its leopard-print banquettes; for lunch or dinner, at one of the tables led by Éric Frechon (who left the establishment in March 2024) and his brigade, from the Épicure gourmet restaurant to the 114 Faubourg brasserie. Spread between the historic building, the former convent and the Matignon wing, the 190 rooms and suites offer the same exceptional luxury, not forgetting the "Signature" suites, such as the one immortalized in Woody Allen's film "Midnight in Paris". A rare address that also houses the Spa Bristol by La Prairie and its swimming pool on the 6th floor, surrounded by bay windows that open onto the rooftops of Paris.
