Gault&Millau's review 2025

A must for all Chaumont-sur-Loire lovers! Just 300 m from the entrance to the estate, this hotel is built around a magnificently restored 19th-century barn and stable, set against two contemporary buildings housing the two-storey rooms. In all, 39 sober, delicate refuges in shades of green, bronze and deep blue, with white cathedral ceilings. Grey linen curtains separate the living room and bedroom areas, reinforcing the warm, cozy atmosphere with quilts covering beds with unusual shapes measuring 2 x 2 m. A stone's throw away is the Le Grand Chaume restaurant, whose dining room resembles a celestial vault, pierced by a forest of small white arrows. Guests enjoy gourmet cuisine at tables shaped like toues (flat-bottomed boats typical of the Loire), topped with Limoges porcelain lighting fixtures. An exceptional place, in perfect osmosis with the spirit of the Domaine de Chaumont and its festival, which each year celebrates the links between nature and the arts.
