Gault&Millau's review 2025

It's the oldest private mansion in Arles and, today, one of the most modern and effervescent. The credit goes to Cuban artist Jorge Pardo, who presided over its restoration in 2018, at the invitation of Maja Hoffmann, owner of L'Arlatan and founder of the Luma Foundation. Ultra-creative, yet respectful of the specifications of a contemporary hotel, the visual artist has awakened the 41 rooms and suites with a mix of Provencal and South American influences: warm hues, designer furniture, brightly colored mosaics and entirely handmade, all without sacrificing comfort. This flawless design is also evident outside, in the delightful garden designed by Bas Smets, where you'll find a swimming pool, a cocktail bar and the Mediterranean cuisine of Armand Arnal, 2-toque chef at the now-famous Chassagnette.
