Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful new openings in Paris in recent years. Just a stone’s throw from the Opera and the very Japanese-inspired Rue Sainte-Anne, this haven was designed to strike a balance between Parisian chic and Japanese serenity. It’s a resounding success for artistic director Olivier Leone and interior designer Laura Gonzalez, who oversaw the renovation of this hotel nestled in a former office building in the 2nd arrondissement. The 26 rooms and suites—including a connecting suite that forms an apartment—exude a minimalist Japanese aesthetic with their partitions reminiscent of washi paper, their natural materials (straw, iroko wood), and their lamps reminiscent of Japanese lanterns—all softened by beautiful fabrics by Pierre Frey. Equally exotic, the Hanabi restaurant offers a remarkable fusion dining experience orchestrated by Chef Shirley Garrier and executed daily by Executive Chef Roberto Sanchez, who artfully blend French tradition with Japanese techniques. Just a stone’s throw away, the bar serves sake and umeshu plum liqueur, while the spa in the basement offers a wellness experience steeped in “Land of the Rising Sun” culture, featuring a sleek swimming pool and treatment rooms where the famous kobido massages are performed.
